From humble beginnings as the Mental Health Center of Morristown in 1960, Cherokee Health Systems (CHS)
has grown to become a comprehensive health services organization touching tens of thousands of lives
every year throughout East Tennessee. Over the past 48 years, the need for quality health care in this region
has prompted the expansion of Cherokee's scope of services and the range of staff expertise to include not
only behavioral health services, but medical and dental programs as well. Today CHS operates 23 locations
in 13 counties. 560 professional and support staff members, including psychologists, physicians,
social workers, nurses and specialists in public health, comprise the ranks of this health services corporation.
Cherokee Health Systems is an organization committed to serving the health care needs of its clients.
As such, we understand and create added value through strong community-oriented, preventive and
innovative health care programs. Our evidence-based approach to high quality care develops results for our
clients. With more than 20 years of experience in corporate wellness, Cherokee Health Systems has
provided Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) to employers across the East Tennessee region.
EAP has been a significant mover in the effort to lower company health care costs by maximizing the
productivity, health, and well-being of the most valuable resource: people.
CHS’ counseling services are able to address numerous personal, family and work concerns, including
alcoholism, drug abuse, marriage conflicts, family illness, loss of a loved one, smoking/tobacco use,
physical handicaps, relationship issues, child care, elder care, financial stress, gambling, and a variety
of other sensitive issues. Our customized trainings and workshops include topics such as stress
management, alcohol and drug, smoking cessation, drug free workplace, family dynamics, relationship
dynamics, parenting dynamics, elderly coping skills, and grief. Additional services include DOT SAP
Assessments, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, annual and quarterly utilization reports, 24-hour

EAP is better known as Employee Assistance Program. Many corporations have
contracts with various health insurance companies who hire therapists to assist
employees with personal and/or work problems. Problems may range from parenting
to depression to career choices and difficulties with a supervisor.
EAP visits are generally paid for by your employer. Generally speaking,
an employer pays for 2-4 visits per year. It is their "gift" to you to assist
you with personal problems that may be interfering with your work. It is used
as a short-term assessment/evaluation.

treatment staff, including addiction-credential counselors, provide professional directed
evaluations, treatment and recovery services. Such services are provided in regularly scheduled
sessions of (usually) fewer than nine contact hours a week. The services follow a defined set
of policies and procedures or clinical protocols.
ASAM Level I Services are tailored to each client’s level of clinical severity and are
designed to help the client achieve changes in his or her alcohol or other drug using behaviors.
Treatment thus must address major lifestyle, attitudinal and behavioral issues that have the
potential to undermine the goals of treatment or to impair the individual’s ability to cope
with major life tasks without the non-medical use of alcohol or other drugs. The duration of
treatment varies with the severity of the individual’s illness and his or her response to treatment.
Essential Features of ASAM Level I Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment and Services:

primary care clinics addiction and mental health clinics.

The SAP recommendations to the client for the most appropriate treatment provider(s)
in their geographic location.
An initial letter to be sent to the employer delineating the SAP's recommendation(s)
and the recourse(s) available.
The SAP requires a Consent for Disclosure to be signed by the employee in order that
the SAP may check the employee's compliance with the recommended treatment provider.
In addition, the SAP requires that the employee contact the SAP with a treatment
status on a weekly basis. A final session with the employee will be conducted upon
completion of the recommended treatment.
A follow-up letter will be sent to the employer stating whether or not the employee
has successfully followed and completed the treatment recommendation(s) originally

The ever increasing need of counseling as a service in India has
created a significant void due to lack of dedicated services.
Market analysis has found that many non-psychologists, predominantly
with background like MSW or with some diploma, are trying to fill in
this vacuum. Although they are able to provide a good service. But in
many cases, services from such professionals are resulting in
deterioration of a case rather than
providing any value addition.
Counseling Zone is an attempt by Mrs. Pragyan Jha to provide a
quality counseling service to the one who need it the most.
Counseling Zone works with a variety of businesses and organizations
providing EAP services, consultations, workshops and other
counseling services.

I would like to introduce a service at Care Regional Medical Center, (CRMC) in
Aransas Pass, Texas.
We are a medical detox service that treats the withdrawal and medical
complications associated with dependency on alcohol and other drugs.
The service we provide is assisting
people who are physically dependent
on alcohol, prescription drugs, and illegal drugs.
CRMC provides this
service by screening the individual, and if appropriate,
facilitates the admission to Care Regional
Medical Center Hospital for
medical stabilization during the acute stages of withdrawal. Since this is
considered a medical procedure the person is provided with a private
room on a medical floor. Once
admitted the patient will be monitored
by the Medical Director and a full nursing staff. All patients
admitted to
CRMC will be treated as a confidential patient. The average length
of stay is three
to five days, dependent upon the patient’s need.
Since we are a medical hospital we treat the medical condition of the patient,
whereas behavioral hospitals or treatment centers focus is on the psychological
components. The
patient is admitted under a medical diagnosis rather than
a psychiatric diagnosis. The patient is
not in a locked facility, unit or wing of
the hospital. They are treated like any other patient
on a medical floor. During
the patient’s stay at the hospital, the detox staff is working
with the patient
on a discharge plan. We will help facilitate the admission to a residential or
outpatient treatment center upon discharge for the continuum of care and
their recovery process. We
also have a Geropsychiatric Center for persons
ages 55 and older where we can detox with or
without a psychiatric diagnosis..
As a Medical Center Hospital, we consider ourselves to be the highest and
safest
level of care for treating the withdrawals from alcohol and other drugs.
We have immediate
access to the intensive care unit and emergency room
if serious complications develop. Sometimes
patients that go to a behavioral
hospital or treatment center for detox need to be transferred or
referred to
us because the facility is unequipped to handle some of the serious medical
complications
associated with withdrawal and they are more suited for
a hospital medical detox. We accept
Medicaid, Medicare, most insurance,
and cash or credit cards. We also accept approved County
Indigent
clients from Webb and Hidalgo counties.
You might ask; how can you benefit from our services?
- As a patient you can regain your life, spirituality, health, and possibly
your
job and family.
- As an employer you can regain your key employee, cut down on
absenteeism,
increase productivity, and cut back on lost revenue due
to addiction in the workplace. Your employee
can be admitted on
Friday and possibly be discharged the following Monday.
- As an insurance provider you can decrease the high cost of health care
by
utilizing an effective 3-5 day hospital medical stabilization service that
is significantly less costly
than a 7-21 day treatment program.
- As a referral source we can: “help you help your client” towards the
first step to sobriety. To facilitate the continuum of care we will contact
and collaborate with
you regarding the patient’s recommended discharge plan.
I would welcome the opportunity in providing a presentation on
our services to
you and your staff at your convenience. If we can
be of any further assistance, or if you have a
referral please don’t
hesitate to call and ask for Frank or Amy. Thank you for considering
CRMC medical detox, and Gero-psyche services. For admissions
and a free assessment please call CARE Medical Detox
at (361)-758-0591
All calls are confidential
